It's All About Respect!
Respect is about quality of life. It is important to show respect as well to be shown respect.
Respect is not the same as obedience, so to even talk about rights we must point out that it is supposed to be mutual in a relationship.
However, domestic violence relationships are often reactionary on behalf of the one being abused. Depending on the level of drama displayed for the manipulation of control, obedience is often the definition of respect for the abuser. Therefore disobedience can be seen as disrespect and can lead to violence.
This is very possibly the reason why the abused are said to be most in danger when leaving a domestically violent relationship. This is why we encourage you to get help and support through this time if you are in danger!
This is an important step to determine if you are in a violent relationship. The point is - to live . . . without fear . . .

Healthy relationship vs unhealthy
Healthy relationships have boundaries and give and take that does not belittle, frighten or demean a person. There is balance and a feeling of well being. That is not to say it is not difficult. Just not dangerous.
