Welcome

This is my journey, not one I wanted or thought that I asked for. Nonetheless it has been survived, is being endured and on a daily basis being healed.

These are those underlying layers that are working themselves out within. My faith and being so stubborn has been a sustaining factor.

I've met many women who are survivors. We have had to learn to care for ourselves enough to choose life, to believe in hope. Thankfully my journey has led me to many strong women whom I hold dear, we are not alone, nor do we have to deny ourselves the support that is there.

My Journey

The link menu to the right under Zoe's Index is where you will find my poetry and writings.

The butterfly metamorphosis really speaks to me. I guess I felt like I had emerged from a cocoon when I entered shelter.
It also is very representative to me of the christian experience, for I have been so changed, amazingly, gratefully changed!

  • The word Chrysalis

is derived from the Greek word crusoz; meaning gold referring to the colour of some Nymphalid pupae, whereas pupa is the scientific word describing this stage of a butterflies life .

I didn't think I would live much longer, I'm numb from the years, something had to change.

I had to take a hard look into the mirror, and hated what I had become. However, the one thing I had to do was take responsibility for entering into a relationship when all the warning signs were there.
I can tell you from experience, it is easier to get into a relationship than to get out of one. Life is choice, now I choose to heal and even forgive myself for not believing and trusting myself and the instincts the good Lord gave me.
There is hope for the journey, nothing is impossible! It is hard work but well worth it!

  • Chrysalis Metamorphosis

    1. When the butterfly emerges from the cocoon it doesn't fly immediately, first the wings need fluid.
    2. Shortly after the wings have been pumped full of fluid and dried, all the leftover products of the metamorphosis are excreted.
    3. This is normally a reddish fluid, the meconium, and has given rise to fables of showers of blood when many butterflies hatch together.
    4. Within a couple of hours the wings are full size, dried, become more rigid and are capable of flight.
